The new Minister for Defence, Willie O'Dea, has reaffirmed that Ireland will not become involved in overseas operations without the authorisation of the UN, the Government and the Oireachtas.

Mr O'Dea was speaking as he reviewed a group of Irish soldiers, who will shortly head to Kosovo.
