Equality Officer rules that Bus Eireann discriminated against employee

Bus Eireann has been found to have indirectly discriminated against an employee, who has consequently been awarded €3,000.

Brian McLoughlin, attached to the Stranorlar Depot in Co Donegal, availed of a voluntary severance package, but was subsequently refused employment as a part time school or seasonal bus driver.

An investigation by an Equality Officer found he had been discriminated against on grounds of age.

No discrimination was found to have occurred in eight other employment equality cases.
