Up to 17 fire crew units are tackling a major blaze in Belfast city centre.

Up to 17 fire crew units are tackling a major blaze in Belfast city centre.

Police and emergency services have been attempting to control the blaze on Royal Avenue since the alarm was raised at about 2am.

The street has been closed to traffic and pedestrians and motorists are being advised not to enter Belfast city centre if possible.

Firefighters say a substantial part of a four-storey block has been destroyed.
