Murdered girls family appeals for help

The family of a murdered 16-year-old girl have appealed today for information in tracing five cars involved in the inquiry.

Megan McAlorum’s half-naked body was discovered in woods outside West Belfast about a mile from her home on the Lenadoon estate on Easter Monday this year.

She disappeared after leaving her local pub at around midnight on Easter Sunday.

A 16-year-old youth has appeared in court charged with her murder.

Detectives said though that the murder probe remains an active investigation and is by no means concluded.

Megan’s family have pleaded to the public for help in tracing five cars in connection with the incident. The details of the five cars are as follows:

A silver coloured Ford Mondeo car that was believed to have been in the Shaws Road area at around 3am on the morning of the murder, Monday April 12.

A white coloured Vauxhall Corsa that may have also been in the Shaws Road area in which it is believed that two men may have been in the vehicle.

A silver or light coloured Vauxhall Corsa that was in the Glenside Road area around 6am on the morning of the 12th and may have turned onto the Upper Springfield Road towards Antrim.

Finally, two vehicles, believed to have been taxi cabs were also seen parked side by side in the Glenside Road area in the early hours of the 12th.

One car may have been red in colour with the letters DUI in the registration. The other is believed to have been white with a roof sign and an English registration.
