Taoiseach attends opening of Christina Noble Centre in Vietnam

The Taoiseach is attending the opening of a centre for disadvantaged children in Vietnam today, set up by Dublin woman Christina Noble.

Bertie Ahern is in Ho Chi Minh City as part of the Asia-Europe Summit.

The new facility is part of the extensive "Foundation" network which Christina Noble has established in her own name to help children from impoverished backgrounds achieve a better chance in life.

The Christina Noble Foundation has helped well over 80,000 children in Vietnam, setting up emergency health clinics, shelters for homeless boys, schools, and child care centres.

Christina’s health has deteriorated in recent years, but her daughter has now come to the aid of starving children and their families, helping them to get an education and become self-sufficient.
