18 injured in Waterford bus crash

Eighteen people are being treated in hospital after a bus hit the pavement at a stop in Waterford city.

Passengers had just starting boarding a bus on The Quay when another struck a lamp post from behind.

The injured were taken to Waterford Regional Hospital, although no one is said to be badly hurt.

Bus Éireann spokesman Cyril McIntyre has said the incident will be investigated fully.

“A full investigation is in progress and we will have the assistance of external experts in the field of accident investigation to assist us to try and determine the causes of the incident,” he said.
