Local authorities urged to take lead in tackling poverty

Environment Minister Dick Roche has called on local authorities to take the lead in tackling social exclusion in Ireland.

Mr Roche made the call at the opening of a conference organised by the Combat Poverty agency to examine progress in the development of anti-poverty initiatives and social inclusion strategies at local government level.
