A 25-year-old man was remanded in custody tonight charged with the manslaughter of a mother-of-three.

A 25-year-old man was remanded in custody tonight charged with the manslaughter of a mother-of-three.

Robert O’Brien from St John’s Park, Castleisland, Co Kerry, came before the special sitting of Kenmare District Court over the death of Elizabeth McCarthy.

The 32-year-old woman’s body was discovered last week in a stream on the outskirts of Tralee.

Her fully-clothed body was discovered two-miles outside Tralee near Kearney’s Bridge by a man out walking his dog by a stream at 11am on Wednesday last.

Two men were arrested today and questioned over the incident.

Mr O’Brien was then charged with the manslaugther of Ms McCarthy on September 29.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court again next week.

The 30-year-old man who was questioned was released with charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
