Firefighters tackle Galway meat plant blaze

Several units of the fire brigade are currently battling a huge fire at the Duffy's meat factory in Gort, Co Galway.

The blaze was reported shortly before 7am and is believed to have started in the roof of the building.

Fire engines from Gort, Loughrea, Galway city and Ennis have all been called to the scene.

Their efforts are currently focused on keeping the blaze away from fuel tanks at the rear of the plant.
