The Government will consider a comprehensive new ports policy in the near future, Marine Minister John Browne said today.

Minister Browne was speaking at the opening of the National Ports Conference in Kinsale today.

The Minister said: "What is quite clear is that our ports infrastructure will have a significant capacity shortfall in the medium term and this deficit needs to be addressed now."
