Report recommends 10% tax on chewing gum

A report commissioned by the Department of the Environment has recommended the introduction of a 10% tax on chewing gum.

The report said the money raised from the initiative should be used to foot the cost of cleaning chewing gum from streets and footpaths throughout Ireland. The move could raise up to €4m annually.
