1916 refuge could be turned into museum
The last refuge of the 1916 rebel leaders could yet be spared the wrecking ball.
Dublin City Council has approved a motion calling for 16, Moore Street to be designated an historic museum.
The dilapidated terraced house was where Provisional Government leaders took their final desperate stand against British forces.
Sinn Féin councillor Christy Burke has said the campaign to save the building is not over yet.
Mr Burke said: “It is lying derelict at the moment, it is under a compulsory purchase order and a hearing is expected in the court of Dublin City Council for it right to retain that whole block.”
