Disabilities year 'a success'
European Year for People with Disabilities was a great success according to an independent report released today.
The European Union designated 2003 as Year of People with Disabilities in order to raise awareness of the abilities and talents of the 37 million disabled people in Europe.
In a review and evaluation of the year Ireland Genesis Strategic Management Consultants found that Ireland achieved all of its objectives.
According to Angela Keirns, chairperson of the event's National Co-ordinating Committee, the year could not have been such a success without the help of thousands of people across the country.
