Two people have been killed after their car plunged into a flooded river in Co Cork this afternoon.

Two people have been killed after their car plunged into a flooded river in Co Cork this afternoon.

Three people were in the car when the accident happened, near Bantry in the valley of the Coomhola Mountains at about 3.30pm.

A six-year-old boy managed to escape.

However, his mother and sister were swept away by the river.

Their bodies were later found further down the river.
