Minister to meet with OECD over fees
The Minister for Education will hold talks with representatives of the OECD in Dublin later today to discuss the findings of a report into higher education.
The Education Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development is recommending the return of third level fees.
The report which was commissioned by Noel Dempsey last year shows the sector to be grossly under-funded.
The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) is staging a protest at Dublin Castle today where members of the OECD are meeting officials from the Department of Education.
USI president Ben Archibald has expressed grave reservations about such a move.
