Young workmates toast jackpot Lotto success

A syndicate of eight young workmates struck gold today as they picked up a jackpot lottery cheque of almost €7m.

The group, who work for a Dublin petfood company Merops Nutrition, nabbed the fifth highest sum in the history of the Irish Lotto game on an €8 ticket in last Saturday’s draw.

The eight winners, who are all in their 20s, includes Brian Cullen, Karl Cooling, Stephen Doyle, Graham Finnerty, Michael Lacey, Cecil Sheridan and another two workers who did not wish to be named.

The group said their plans for the money included buying houses, cars and holidays, as well as giving money to their family.

Mr Finnerty chose the numbers and bought the ticket at the Tesco shop on Ballymun Road in Dublin 10 last Thursday.

The group revealed that they always play €16, and each donate €2 a week to cover the two Lotto draws.
