Roadworks to resume at Carrickmines Castle site today
Archaeologists are due to resume dismantling the ruins of Carrickmines Castle this morning after a conservationist lost his High Court challenge to the works.
Dominic Dunne had mounted a constitutional challenge to the National Monuments Act, which was introduced by Environment Minister Martin Cullen in July.
The legislation gave Mr Cullen the authority to order the destruction of national monuments to make way for infrastructure projects.
Legal wrangles over Carrickmines Castle have already delayed the completion of the M50 motorway in south Co Dublin for two years.
