Referendum blamed for rise in racially-motivated incidents
A study by the Government’s advisory body on racism has reportedly uncovered a significant increase in racially-motivated incidents since the citizenship referendum last May.
Reports this morning said the study by the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism (NCCRI) found that 50 such incidents had been reported in the last four months.
This compares to an average of 47 racially-motivated incidents every six months since the NCCRI began compiling figures three years ago.
