Diver seriously injured in Co Clare

A man has been seriously injured in a diving accident in Co Clare.

The incident happened at approximately 2.30pm this afternoon when the man was diving from a rock at Donegal Harbour, just north of Kilkee.

He was pulled to safety by the Coast Guard Helicopter and transferred to the emergency unit at Tralee General Hospital.

According to an eyewitness, the man was semi-conscious when he was lifted onto the helicopter and it is believed he is suffering from lung damage.
