Armed raid on security firm in Newbridge

An armed raid has taken place on a security van in Newbridge, Co Kildare, this afternoon.

Three armed men held up the vehicle as it was collecting money from the Atlantic Homecare store in the town.

A shot was fired during the raid, but no-one was injured.

Gardaí said that the gang escaped in a silver Toyota Corolla with only a few hundred euro.

This was the first raid on a security van since the resolution of the dispute at security firm, Brinks Allied earlier this week.
