Nominees for film and television awards announced
The nominees for two of the main categories at the Irish Film and Television Awards have been announced this evening.
Five films have been shortlisted for each of the Best Irish Film and Best International Film categories.
Michael Moore's 'Farenheit 9/11', Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ' and 'The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King' face competition from 'Lost in Translation' and 'Mystic River' in the international category.
Five diverse films make up the nominees for the Irish category.
'Blind Flight' tells the story of Brian Keenan and John McCarthy, while 'Omagh' examines the events of August 15th, 1998.
'Cowboys and Angels' is a story of friendship set in Limerick, with 'Bloom', the adaptation of James Joyce's Ulysees, and 'Song for a Raggy Boy' starring Aidan Quinn completing the line-up.
