Aer Lingus disruption averted as SIPTU calls off meetings

SIPTU has called off planned general meetings of its members at Aer Lingus, averting possible disruption to the airline’s flights this morning.

The union had arranged meetings of all Aer Lingus workers at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports for 10am this morning to discuss a row over catering arrangements.

Up to 15 flights could have been disrupted by the move.

However, the meetings were called off last night after the two sides reached an interim solution to their difficulties.

SIPTU said further contacts would take place later today with a view to finding a lasting resolution to the problem.
