Govt allocates €19.5m for back to school grants

The Government has set aside €19.5m for grants to help disadvantaged parents meet the cost of school clothing and footwear.

The Minister for Social and Family Affairs Mary Coughlan has said the amount of money set aside this year is 10% higher than what was paid out last year.

Parents who qualify for the scheme have until the end of September to apply.
