Round-the-clock work not enough to save ferry sailing

Brittany Ferries has been forced to confirm the cancellation of its 10.30pm sailing from Cork to Roscoff because of technical problems with the vessel the Pont-Aven.

It is the second week in succession that thousands of passengers bound for France have had their holiday arrangements disrupted.

The ferry is undergoing emergency repairs, and despite shipyard workers operating round the clock, the company has been unable to return the vessel to service in time for this evening's sailing.

The company is apologising for any inconvenience caused and is offering all passengers affected alternative travel arrangements.

Passengers booked on tonight's sailing are being asked to contact the Brittany Ferries office directly on 021 427 7801.
