Price of drink to blame for sales drop: Consumers' Association

The Consumers' Association has blamed a 1.3% fall in bar sales on the price of drinks.

The Consumers' Association has blamed a 1.3% fall in bar sales on the price of drinks.

Spokesperson Michael Kilcoyne today said that there is a need for the Vintners' Federation of Ireland to speak out against publicans if the sector is to survive.

"If they continue to support publicans who charge huge prices and who don't give real value to consumers, then they will no longer be in business," he said.
