Students in UCC to camp out in accommodation protest
Students in University College Cork have planned to pitch tents in the President's Garden on the campus tonight as part of a campaign on accommodation.
The action is aimed at highlighting poor standards and to encourage students, particularly first years, to be aware of their rights.
Welfare Officer of the UCC Students' Union, Conor Flavin, said that students would no longer tolerate sub-standard accommodation.
He believes an increase in on-campus accommodation places would provide more competition for landlords and force them to raise the standards of their properties.
