Walsh to leave Govt post

Minister for Agriculture Joe Walsh has announced his decision to leave the Government in September and to retire from the Dáil at the next election.

Joe Walsh was first elected to the Dáil in 1977.

Mr Walsh negotiated for Irish farmers at the Agenda 2000 talks, the CAP mid-term review last year and introduced full decoupling of support payments to farmers.
