PSNI petrol-bombed in Derry

Police in the North came under attack from petrol bombs during disturbances in nationalist areas of Derry last night.

At least 14 petrol bombs were thrown at officers during the clashes in the Bishop Street and Fountain areas of the city. Nobody was injured and one man was arrested.

The Democratic Unionist Party claimed the violence was a nationalist effort to stoke up tensions ahead of the annual Apprentice Boys march in Derry on August 14.
