Cork County Council has been forced to buy a set of new signposts for a Michael Collins memorial after souvenir hunters stole the old ones, it emerged today.

Locals are now rushing to erect the new finger-post signs in time for the annual commemoration to mark the legendary statesman’s death, which takes place on August 22 near Crookstown in mid-Cork.
