Dubliner prepares to swim Irish Sea
A Dublin man is preparing to swim across the Irish Sea this month to raise money for charity.
If Feilim O’Maolain is successful, he will become the first person to complete a 56-mile solo swim between Holyhead and Dublin.
The journey could take up to 40 hours and is due to take place this month, depending on the weather.
Mr O’Maolain is waiting for a 72-hour window of calm seas before attempting the feat, which is in aid of the Capuchin Day Centre for Homeless People in Dublin.
Mr O'Maolain was the first person to swim from the Aran Islands (Kilronan) to Galway (Blackrock in Salthill), a distance of 24 miles which he swum in 14 hours 59 minutes.
