Chemical factory fire prompts evacuation in Lurgan
The centre of Lurgan town in Co Antrim has been sealed off after a fire broke out in a chemical factory last night.
An evacuation operation was put in place when the blaze started just after 7.30pm yesterday in Watson’s Lane in Lurgan.
A 400-metre exclusion zone was set up, and homes and businesses were evacuated because of the risk from fumes.
The Fire Service has yet to establish the cause of the fire.
