Two held over two-year-old Dublin murder

Two people were arrested today by detectives investigating the murder of a petty criminal who was shot dead more than two years ago in west Dublin.

The man in his 40s and woman in her late 30s were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the murder of Derek Lodge.

Mr Lodge, 26, was shot dead by a lone gunman in a Portakabin outside his family home on Kilworth Road, Drimnagh on May 22, 2002.

The father-of-one was working in the Portakabin late into the night when the gunman entered and opened fire.

A team of more than 30 detectives, including members of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, were involved in the original investigation.
