Missing woman's car prompts Coastguard search

Police and the North's Coastguard today mounted a search of a stretch of the Co Antrim coastline after the discovery of a missing woman’s car.

Freda Mullan, 55, from Limavady, Co Derry, has been missing from her home in Castle Park since Thursday.

Her Fiat Cinquecento car was found in the harbour carpark in the seaside village of Portballintrae earlier today.

Police have been searching B&Bs and hotels in the area, while Portrush and Ballycastle Coastguard Rescue teams were sent to the scene to conduct a search of the coastline.

The RNLI Inshore Lifeboat has been launched and the Irish Army Air Corps and Rescue Helicopter have been deployed to assist in the search.
