Gardaí identify headless body found in Kilkenny

Gardaí in Co Kilkenny have identified the African woman whose headless body was found wrapped in black plastic in a ditch near Pilltown on Friday.

She has been named as 25-year-old Paiche Onyemaechi, a native of Malawi who had been living in Waterford.

Ms Onyemaechi’s partly-decomposed body was found close to a stream near Pilltown at around midday on Friday.

She is believed to have been dead for up to a month.

A post mortem confirmed that she had died a violent death.
