Reserve forces to be trained to become part-time soldiers

Ireland’s Reserve Defence Forces are to be trained to become part-time soldiers under a plan due to be launched by Defence Minister Michael Smith today.

The move is part of an army-restructuring programme that began in the mid-1990s.
