SDLP meets Northern Secretary to discuss parades rulings
A delegation from the SDLP is meeting Northern Secretary Paul Murphy today to demand that he give greater public support to the Parades Commission.
The party has already expressed its anger with the PSNI’s decision to overturn the commission’s restrictions on two loyalist marches in Lurgan and Belfast earlier this month.
The SDLP has claimed that Mr Murphy has privately expressed his disagreement with certain Parades Commission rulings.
It said the commission was put in place to make independent decisions and these should be upheld by the British government.
