McCreevy hints budget will remain tight

Finance Minister, Charlie McCreevy, has hinted there will be no major giveaways in next December's budget.

This was despite recent exchequer figures for the first six months of the year which showed the Government took in €1bn more than had been forecast for the first half of the year.
