Orangemen attacked in Antrim and Derry

Buses carrying Orangemen back from Twelfth of July parades have reportedly been stoned by crowds in Counties Antrim and Derry.

Windows were smashed on a vehicle carrying marchers past the Rathenraw estate in Antrim town, with some inside said to be slightly hurt.

In the second attack, Democratic Unionists Assembly man William Hay claimed a bus carrying Orangemen was targeted in the village of Greysteel.

Hitting out at the lack of security force presence, Mr Hay said: “There was no police whatsoever, I could see no police in or near Greysteel. It’s a total and absolute tragedy.

“What really annoyed me was that the people who threw the stones and bottles, there was no doubt about it, were aiming for the driver’s window.”
