Murder accused discovered in Majorca
A man who disappeared from Co Dublin while awaiting trial for the murder of his wife has been discovered on the Spanish holiday island of Majorca.
The body of 27-year-old Mary Whelan was found at the bottom of the stairs in the couple's home at Clonard Street in Balbriggan in March 2001.
A post mortem revealed that she had been strangled and her husband Colin Whelan was later charged with her murder.
However, he disappeared two years later and his car was found at Howth. He now faces extradition from Spain.
