Five arrested as firearm found in Newry

Five people were arrested in a security operation in the border town of Newry, Co Down, today during which a firearm was recovered.

The arrests were made when police stopped and seized two cars in Water Street, close to Newry Cathedral.

The firearm was taken away for forensic examination and a police spokesman said inquiries were continuing.
