Trade unions representing workers at ESB are due to meet today to discuss the possibility of taking strike action as part of a dispute over pay.

One of the unions, the ESB Officers’ Association, has already served strike notice on the company for July 12, but it is unclear whether the other unions support this move.

The ESB workers are seeking an 18.5% pay rise and an increased shareholding in the company.

Their unions met management earlier this week to seek clarification on a number of issues, but it is not known if the talks produced enough progress to avert an all-out strike.
