One of the world’s leading research and development firms has announced plans to create 120 jobs at two new research centres in Dublin.

The US multinational Bell Labs said it was planning to establish a global headquarters for telecommunications research in Blanchardstown and a separate research facility at Trinity College as part of a €69m investment in Ireland.

The Tánaiste, Mary Harney, has described the investment as one of the most significant in the history of the State.
