18-year-old shot in 'paramilitary-style attack’
An 18-year-old man is recovering this morning after being shot in the leg in a 'paramilitary-style punishment attack' in the North last night.
The shooting happened at around 10.45pm in the Hillcrest area of Bangor, Co Down.
Maenwhile, police in west Belfast have come under attack in a series of incidents during the night.
The first happened at around 8.40pm when officers had a number of petrol bombs thrown at their vehicle after they responded to reports that youths were trying to block the Springfield Road.
The incident occurred close to the junction of Springfield Park and minor damage was caused to the vehicle.
Later, police came under attack with stones and other missiles as they protected firefighters who were extinguishing burning tyres blocking the Springfield Road.
At least two petrol bombs hit a police vehicle, again causing minor damage.
At 10pm a petrol bomb was thrown at New Barnsley police station.
No police officers were injured during the incidents.
