New law warns safety breach could cost €3m

Breaches in new safety, health and welfare at work legislation could lead to fines of up to €3m and two-year jail terms.

The legislation will mean company directors and managers may be held liable in circumstances where they are found to have contributed to any offence.

The new bill was announced today by Minister for Labour Affairs, Frank Fahey.
