US ambassador defends Bush visit

The US ambassador to Ireland has defended President George Bush’s visit to Co Clare this weekend.

Ames Kenny claimed Mr Bush valued the relationship between the US and Ireland, despite claims that he was only using this weekend’s visit to secure Irish-American votes in his re-election campaign.
