Brady’s European campaign cost most per vote
As well as a bruised political ego, Royston Brady is nursing the worst financial hangover of the European Elections, after having the highest spend per vote of any of the candidates.
The Lord Mayor of Dublin spent over €200,000 on his failed election campaign, €70,000 of which was paid for by Fianna Fáil.
That translates as €5.50 for each first preference vote.
Sinn Féin's Mary Lou McDonald was the third biggest spender in the Dublin area at €150,000, after the two Fianna Fáil candidates Brady and Eoin Ryan.
