People urged to buy plants as Father’s Day gifts

Bórd Glas has launched a campaign to encourage people to buy plants and trees as gifts for Father’s Day this Sunday.

The horticultural development board said research had found that gardening was growing in popularity among Irish men.

The Irish gardening market is worth an estimated €431m annually and Bórd Glas studies have revealed that €32m is spent every year on plants and flowers as gifts for various occasions.
