Govt urged to increase funding for social housing
The Irish Council for Social Housing has called on the Government to allocate an additional €100m to reach its social housing targets for this year.
The council said today that the Fianna Fáil-Progressive Democrats coalition would fail to meet the targets set out in the National Development Plan and its own Programme for Government unless it provided more capital funding.
Around 50,000 people are on housing waiting lists in Ireland and as many as 6,000 are living rough.
