Tánaiste welcomes referendum result

The Tánaiste, Mary Harney, has welcomed the result of the citizenship referendum, which was passed by a four-to-one majority.

Speaking in Dublin this morning, Ms Harney also paid tribute to the electorate for not rejecting the proposed constitutional amendment as part of a backlash against the Government.
