Five candidates remain in contention for the three European Parliament seats in the North-West constituency.

Five candidates remain in contention for the three European Parliament seats in the North-West constituency.

Nobody has been elected yet, but independent candidate Marian Harkin has topped the poll on 66,000 votes, followed by Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty on 65,000.

Fianna Fáil’s Sean O’Neachtain was just a few thousand votes behind on 62,000, with Fine Gael’s Jim Higgins on 60,000 and independent Rosemary ‘Dana’ Scallon on 57,000.
